The tiger lifestyle and survival moves
lifestyle of a tiger.
The tiger is the largest cat species.
Most of the vertical stripes on reddish orange strips. Tigers once ranged
widely across eastern Eurasia from the black sea in the west of the black sea.
Lions are known to breed with tigers in captivity to create to create hybrids
called ligers and tigons. They share physical and behavioral qualities of both
parent species. Such hybrids were first bred in zoos but this is now
discouraged due to the emphasis on conservation. The liger is a cross between a
male lion and tigress and they are between 10 to 12 feet. And weigh up to 450
kg. Because the lion sire passes on growth promoting gene but the corresponding
growth inhibiting gene from the female tiger is absent, ligers grow larger than
either of parents. The less common tigons is a cross between lioness and a male
tiger. Because the male tiger does not pass on growth promoting gene and the
lioness passes into a growth inhibiting gene, tigons are round and the same
size as their parents.
Females are one time fertile and have occasionally given
birth tolitigons when mated to a male asiantic lion. The tiger has a muscular
body with powerful forelimbs large head and a tail that is about haft the
length of its body its pelage is dense and heavy and coloration varies between
shades of orange with brown with white ventral areas and distinctive vertical
black strips that are unique in each individual. The tiger the only stripped
cat species they have a mane like around there neck especially the males .the
tigers skull is similar to that of a lions skull. With the frontal region
usually less depressed and flattened and slightly longer postorbital region.
Due to variation in skull sizes of the two species the structure of the lower
jaw is reliable indicator of their identification. The Siberian tiger is the
largest tiger in captivity .large male Siberian tigers reach a total of more
than 3.5m and weighs up to 330kg.the Bengal and the Siberian tigers are among
the tallest cats in shoulder height they are also ranked among the tallest cats
that ever existed. The tiger once ranged widely across Asia from eastern turkey.
They also cover the Vietnam forest. When tigers are not subjected to human
disbustance it is often diurnal, it does not climb trees .it is a strong swimmer
and can swim up to 29km.adult tigers lead largely solitary lives. They establish
and maintain territories but have a much wider home ranges within which they roam.
The size of the home range mainly depends on the abundance of prey .a young
male acquires territory either by seeking out or by living as a transient in
another males territory until its older and strong enough to challenge the male
resident. Male tigers are generally intolerant of other male in their territories
than females of other females. facial expressions include the facial threat
where the individuals bares its teeth flattens its ears and pupils enlarge.in
the wild, tigers mainly feed on large and medium sized preferring ungulates
weighing at least 90kg.in Siberia the main prey species is the wild boar. When
hunting large animals….they prefer to bite the throat which prevents intake of
oxygen. They only eat the prey they have killed themselves.
